Hey guys, Happy Fourth of July!! As many of you know, here at BBT we are proud to share the same anniversary as our nation and while this year marks our 250th year as the USA it also marks BBT’s 30th year in business having officially opened our doors to the public on July 4th of 1996! 🎆🎊😎🎉🇺🇸🎇

Ryan and his dad Matt wound up putting better than a dozen fish to hand with me, but most were on the smaller end of the scale and this one was our “day maker”! Great job all around guys… 👊😎👍

This year, to celebrate, I’ll be heading on over to the shop around 10:30am, (We are still open 8am to 6pm) firing up the grill and handing out hot dogs and chips to anyone who’s hungry and would like to hang out a bit and reminisce! (Or just take it with you! 🤷‍♂️😅)

Added some patriotic decor to my garage doors recently… Happy 250th Birthday Y’all!! 🥳🎉🎊
It was great having the three sisters I grew up with here for a little while together! 💖😎 (We missed and were missing our younger half-sister… 😔)

I’ll continue to do so until probably 3 or 4 in the afternoon or until they are gone if it’s as busy as I hope it is… Anyway, I hope that if you’re in the area you’ll stop by and see us, 30 years is something I’m very proud of and is kind of a big deal to me as is America’s own 250th!

Huge thanks and a shout out to John Robinson for helping me host my family! 👊😎

As to the fishing, John just posted a new report last Wednesday that’s far more comprehensive than what I can post here having been out much more than myself, but my main concern right now and for the next week or so will be the water temperatures…

So far, we’ve been fairly lucky on that end this year compared to the last few, but two of our monitoring stations went above 67° for a little while yesterday and this next week or so will see much more of that!

The links to PMTU’s M37, Bowman’s & Maple leaf monitors found here and elsewhere on our website will take you to a page with this graph showing the past 72hrs of data. For a more detailed breakdown, hit the little box with the arrow.
From here you can explore by the hours, days, weeks, months, etc… (The same applies to water levels.)

In short, if you care about not stressing the fish too much, please use the monitoring station links provided here on our website as well as your own personal water thermometers before fishing and try not to do so beyond 67°. (Even if you plan to keep your fish you will likely run into some that must be released due to limits and size restrictions.)

It was a little too windy for a big lake ride anyway with small craft advisories, but at least they got to see the new (to us) charter boat and watch us work on it a bit! 🙄🤣😎

The furthest station downriver is not far above our busiest area of “hex water” here on the Pere Marquette and is located just above the Mapleleaf access, but it is also located just below the cold clear “Buck Creek” that comes in and if you use a good handheld thermometer below that station you will discover that the water from even just a few bends down is a degree or two above whatever is shown and grows higher the further down you go. (Add at least 3 degrees at Walhalla Bridge quite often and then the “swamp” or “spreads” below that get downright bathwater like some days…)

Whoever put those oil filters on last really went nuts! I’m pretty sure they went on dry and with a torque wrench set on super high! 😮 All good now however… 😎👍

Anyway, some will listen, some won’t, some care and some don’t! 🤷‍♂️ There are currently no “laws” in our books for this so it’s really just up to you as a person… Wish I had more for you on the river front, but I’ve been busier with visiting family, friends, our big lake boat and other projects here lately than I have been on the river and have even had to pass off a few trips for various reasons…

Stumpy rides again! 🛥️👍

Watch those temps if you do go out and the further up you are on our system here is usually the better. Also, not a bad time to explore some of the many cooler small streams in the area if you don’t mind walking in and tight quarters! (Please be mindful of private property.)

If you know, you know! Thanks for the rack of hats Jim!! They cracked me up and we will distribute them wisely… 🤣👊👍😎

I hope you all have a great holiday weekend!! Stay cool, have fun, be well, happy & safe! 😎🎣👍🇺🇸✌️
