Shop Hours 8am – 6pm Daily
Well, I confirmed the rumors…There are some kings in the system! I did a lower river scouting mission with my buddy and we had some great action! Plus, Steve had a one man guide trip and did very well also. Not to say the river is full of fish, just providing a quick recap of today’s action. John Robinson and I are going to run the middle river tomorrow to scout for a Friday group trip…we still have several great dates still open this weekend and next week for guide trips and Lodging!
The Pere Marquette river is low and clear at the moment. These fish are “migratory” and tend to make big moves early in the season. Crushing them one day and struggling the next is not out of the question. We are off to a great start and the big lake fishing reports out of Ludington are awesome this year. We should have a big run of kings. Thus far they are not the biggest fish, but incredibly powerful in the cooler water temps.

We still have some great dates available for this season (both Guide Trips and Lodging)…give us a call to inquire or lock in a day…231-745-3529. Here are my personal open dates Aug 29 – 31, Sept. 1 – 3, 7 & 13… plus, we have openings with other guides as well. Early season we try to target the lower river with hardware, but we are always flexible if the fish move up- stream in fishable numbers. Never too early to start thinking about fall and winter steelhead trips. We typically start targeting them by Mid-October…it will be here sooner then we think! This summer sure flew bye fast. The kids are going back to school and football is getting very close to kicking off! Here we go!!!!
The shop is loaded up and inventory is still rolling in daily. We pride ourselves in having “the right tools for the job”. Everything you need (or might just want) to fish our area is available at the shop. If there is something you think we should carry, let us know! Plus, we can always special order products for you if we don’t have your size or it’s something you want to try. We are looking forward to the upcoming season!!! Catching up with long time clients, meeting new ones and seeing all the familiar faces on the river, at the shop and Motel.
There are still opportunities to join our team….

Alaska 2026
We just returned from another amazing week at Naknek River Camp in King Salmon, Alaska! Jim and Phyllis Johnson (plus, the whole guide staff) hosted us for an awesome week at camp and fishing was incredible! It is impressive to see how the camp has grown and developed over their 20 years in Alaska. There is a reason why they are one of the busiest outfitters in Alaska!!! Thank you and congratulations!!!
We have scaled back our group sizes over the years. This year the BBT group was 10 anglers and everyone of us had a blast; caught tons of fish; enjoyed a couple cool “fly-out” experiences and some lake crossings…there is no shortage of options camp offers. They are positioned in the perfect location to provide an affordable and extremely productive experience. So much to say, with not enough time to express it all, so if a picture is worth a thousand words….here is a short novel! Next year’s dates are August 6 – 14, 2027 and please contact the shop for our exclusive “BBT Special” rate.

Stay tuned and good luck out there! We will be ramping up our reporting for the fall season. The shop is filling up with all your fishing needs…flies, tying material, bait, beads, rods, reels, nets waders….you get the idea! Swing in for current conditions and fishing reports. We will have “boots on the ground” everyday very soon!
Thanks!
John
