Shop Hours 7am to 7pm Daily

We are hosting our Fall River Clean-Up on October 19.  Please contact the shop if you are planning on attending (231-745-3529).  We will be meeting at the shop at 8am to figure out beats and fill seats in boats.  BBT will cover the cost of your car spots and provide trash bags to everyone.  Following the clean-up we will be hosting an appreciation BBQ at Steve’s Pole Barn around 6pm.  If you have a boat and no passengers….no problem, we can usually fill those seats for you!  Conversely, if you don’t have a boat…we should be able to find you a ride down the river.  And/or walking around some of the heavily fished public access sites is always a big haul of trash!

Thank you and now back to fishing!!!!

The river is back to low and clear with no rain in the extended forecast.  However, the weather has transitioned to fall… cool morning and pleasant afternoons (plus, a couple frosts in the next few days)!  The salmon migration is in full swing!  New fish in the holes and runs; gravel beds are loaded with spawners and dead fish on the banks.  It has been a great run and continues to be solid!  Let’s hope the fall/winter steelhead migration follows suit and we see a plentiful run!  I have heard of a couple steelhead hooked and even landed this past week, but no real numbers yet!  The coho population is constantly building in the river, which is a great bonus for late fall fish!

Fishing pressure is increasing everywhere…not just here on the Pere Marquette.  Please respect each others space…when in doubt “ask before you cast”.  Communication goes a long way and etiquette goes even further.  We are all out there to have a good time, enjoy a bend in the rod and a spending the day on the river.  It is so much better to be talking about the battles that where won and lost with the fish at the end of the day; not describing a confrontation.  Please just use the “golden rule”…treat others as you would like to be treated!

The shop WAS loaded up with inventory (we are doing our best to replenish inventory)….flies, beads, plugs, spinners, rods, reels and everything in between!  Our guide schedules are full right now, but we still have some lodging available…give us a call to book 231-745-3529.  It’s certainly not too early to start thinking and planning your fall/winter steelhead fishing dates.  Our bookings are starting to fill in, but we still have plenty of great openings for guide trips and/or lodging.  We will most likely start switching gears to steelhead around Mid-October.  Time is flying bye and we will be on the hunt for chrome very soon.

I have been burning the candle at both ends between guiding, the shop responsibles, being a father & husband and trying to keep in touch with friends and family…it’s been busy!!!  But thank you for all the bookings and shop loyalty!  It means a ton to us and we appreciate each and every transaction!  We are doing our best, but sometimes that is not good enough!!!  Sorry for delays, missed phone calls, late e-mails or whatever…not enough time in the day and short handed at the moment.  Bare with us and forgive us….thank you!

Here’s last week’s photo dump….

Craig and Janet joined me for a couple extremely fun and productive days!
Craig worked his switch rod with bobbers most of the time…with great success!!!

I had a very fun and relaxing day with Kerri and Greg!  Great job!!!

Rinse and repeat….Another awesome week in the books!!!  Thank you to all our clients, guests and customers for supporting us!  It is so nice having such a loyal clientele; developing friendships and great memories together over the years.  THANK YOU!!!!  Plus, we still have 2 weeks to go before we switch to steelhead fishing!  It has been a blast!  It’s great to be burning the candle at both ends and staying busy chasing fish daily!  We appreciate it very much!  We have an awesome crew working the shop this fall, so please pick their brains on rigging, locations to fish and some fish stories.

Looking forward to another week on the river and making new memories on the Pere Marquette River!  Good luck out there, enjoy the season and be safe!!!
