Shop hours are officially extended! (7am to 7pm for now, but we are still looking for a new shop clerk or two so we can extend them even further if possible!) On that note, please take it easy on our shop guys if you can! They are working their butts off and doing a fantastic job of keeping up as far as I’m concerned… 😎👍👊🎣
Once again, and per usual, I’m more than a little bit overdue for this BBT website (fishbaldwin) update, but in my defense, I must say that if you’re not aware the game is afoot right now you must be really hiding! 😅
As always, if you’ve been following our shops Instagram and/or Facebook pages (or my personal ones) you’ve probably seen most of the very few photos I’ve actually taken lately already, but I’ve been slowing down on those postings also with what seems like nothing but King photos (and a few deer here recently! 👍) in my feeds making me not worry quite as much about getting those “pics for attention” and personal ads in.
(And then of course, there were a couple of days where pics just weren’t in the picture because those particular fish simply had different ideas about getting their picture taken and it had nothing to do with me tossing them back without one at all! 😳😂🤪😅)
There is no lack of fish in the system, at least not where I’ve been spending my time and most of my friends, colleagues and associates that have live scopes in their boats are showing me some pretty impressive screens as I go by!! (30 in this hole, 60 in this one…🎣) That being said, if you’re being mindful of your methods when it comes to the pursuit those fish, they aren’t “always” actually biting either…
You can absolutely be in the right place at the wrong time trust me! I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve rolled into one of the “good spots” right behind another guy (and sometimes even several guys before him) that never even touched a fish using the exact same gear and then had the bite turn on for me right after I got there and/or vice versa!! 🤷♂️
That scenario plays both ways constantly out there and “for the most part”, that’s just fishing! 🤷♂️😎👍 (Sometimes it is skill level and presentation.) My advice, if you want it, but you are here, is just to try and enjoy the process, treat every single person out there as you would like to be treated yourself, have a good time and, this one will be hard for some people I know, try not to take it all “quite” so seriously!
Some of those “mean mugs” in boats and on the banks out there actually crack me up looking like they’re mad at the whole world or maybe even just the prospect of having to share some water with a few more people because it didn’t “used to be that way”, (I know and I kind of get it, I do try not to be too specific and I’ve been fishing top to bottom of this river for 34 years) but if anyone seriously thinks that this is just a here problem and not a worldwide one that comes along with the web and social media they really need to go travel some more. Those “remote” locations are becoming few and far between and when you do find a true one be prepared to make some sacrifices for it.)
I do try really hard to not let any of it bother me one way or the other so I’ve “usually” just got a smile for ya and I’m happy to report that the vast majority of anglers I’ve run into have been wonderful folks to have go past me or for me to go past with some polite conversation and even some shared tips at times! 😎👍👊 (But I did have that rant right here one time… 🙄😕) 
Anyway, back to our happy place! The shop is loaded up with everything you need for your fly, spin, pin, float, bait or lure fishing needs besides some great clothing, accessories, swag and assorted gear so if you’re interested in supporting us and our attitude about it all stop in! (Also, I’m fairly certain we’ve still got at least a couple of dates open yet to King fish in our guides calendars at the shop! 😎)
I do know for certain that we’ve got some prime time fall Steelheading dates available and I start taking new clients in my boat again on the last week of October thru March 1st!!
