Hey guys, I figured it was about time I did another website update! I did save a few new photos for this post here that haven’t already shared elsewhere, but if you’ve been following our shops Instagram and Facebook pages you’ve probably seen a fair number of these and you already know that I’ve been updating those pages “pretty much” daily. (Every day really on my personal pages; Instagram here & Facebook here.)

Heading out in the new(ish) office! 😁

We lost a whole lot of hot fish, but Evan made my first king trip for the river season a good one! Thanks man, hope to see you again soon… 👊🎣😎🎉👍

(I had a friend who doesn’t do social media at all test this out and now I’m certain that you can access all of these social media pages without having any kind of account of your own using the links I’ve provided…)

Anyway, since my last “full” report I took a great 1st King trip of the season since returning from Alaska with Evan, had some oral surgery wherein two implants were placed on top of a previous surgical bone graft, (still a little sore from that one) ran a morning and then an evening trip on the same day out of the Manistee harbor on the big lake with John R to finish off our Charter Boat season and then had my main man and most highly trained assassin Dennis out on the river for three days of solid fishing! (Steve Troupe of Barski joined us on day two and our very own John K today!) In other words, just a little bit of pain & misery but also a whole lot of fun!! 😅👍😎

View from the new office! 😎🎣👍
Best pic I could get while driving from the fly bridge! That thing was a tank… 👍
A few of the fish from the evening shift… 👍

I suppose I could probably copy and paste all of the social media post that I’ve made for a really long and detailed report, but that feels a bit redundant and/or repetitive, so I won’t! Suffice it to say it’s definitely going better this year than it has been in quite a few years (for this time of year) but we’re still not back to “the good ‘old days” when we could count on crushing it downstream any time after August 15th. 🙄😳🤷‍♂️ (If that’s confusing, what I’m saying is that it’s good right now, at least downriver where we’ve been!)

A few of our fish from the three day fun fest! 😎🎣👍🎉

The water was extremely low and clear, but thanks to some recent rains and passing thunderstorms we are now holding a nice stain that is absolutely perfect downriver! I haven’t had a chance to check the clarity in the mid or upper river, but I imagine it’s also much better and the “word on the street” is that there are decent numbers of fishable pods in the deeper runs and pools (you won’t necessarily “see” them as they are not yet spawning) thru the mid river with couple of good spots in the upper as well…

As we move into this new season I do want to remind you of a few features our website has to offer that may be helpful to you! (There is also a feature that allows you to put an app icon right on the home screen of your phone for fast access to all of these features right here.)

First and foremost (or, most commonly used) would be the links to the various water monitoring stations provided to you by PMTU in the upper and middle river then the USGS further down. These can be found on most pages of our site either on a side bar on a bigger screen or near the bottom on smaller devices. They consist of M37, Bowman’s, Maple-leaf and Scottville.

Secondly, if you’ve got a little time and actually want to learn just about all there is to know about our little river, it’s access points, it’s history and a whole lot more check out “The Pere Marquette River A-Z!” (It really covers a lot and you are guaranteed to learn something… )

Seasons of the PM” has tons of information on what’s available to fish for and more importantly, when they are available! Our “Emergence Schedule” is helpful during trout season and “Rigging for Migratory Fish” covers all of the ins and outs of both C&D and Indicator fishing on a fly rod if either of those methods is of interest to you… (I’m going to try and get around to methods for pin/float fishing, hardware and bait this winter, but don’t hold me to it. 🙄)

This came in handy once or twice every day! 😎☔🌧️

For information on our lodging at the Motel BBT click here, guided river trips click here and for a charter boat on Lake Michigan, click here! How about a destination trip to Alaska or Argentina? Click here! (We haven’t really done the Belize trip since my cousin Jim Johnson sold that business, but I am keeping that page up to edit sometime soon for an upcoming New Zeeland adventure. 😜)

Some snacks! 😁

This is just a little of what you will find on fishbaldwin.com so feel free to click around and be sure to follow us on Instagram and/or Facebook for lots more content lots more often…We hope that you appreciate it and that you’ll support us when you can! See you soon, until then, have fun, be well, happy, kind when you can and stay safe always! 😎🇺🇸🎣🦅
