Hey guys, the days are turning into nights a lot faster here lately and those in turn are blurring into weeks as we burn this proverbial candle at both ends! We are still taking applications at the shop, but have also managed thru the hard work and dedication of our current employees to extend the hours to 7am to 7pm for now…
Like a broken record I’m playing that same old tune about being late on my “reporting” and my lack of social media post, but like I said in my last little update it’s pretty clear that we are in the thick of it and not only that, but it would also be hard to top John’s last update anyway! (If you haven’t read it, click here.) His sentiments are mine as well so please accept our mutual thanks for everything!
The lower river continues to fish fairly well to really good on “most days” with plenty of salmon still moving thru and at least a few bite windows if not more on average. My hope is that continues for quite a while yet and that I’ve got willing participants in my boat to go find out… (I’ve grown quite fond of crushing blows on crank baits or bobbers dropping followed by hard pulls! 😎)
I’ve actually only moved up to “the mid river” once so far this entire season and played with fly rods for some of that day during a group trip… Judging by my calendar there’s likely more of that in the near future for me, but we did have fun!
I can only imagine how low and clear it must be upriver right now, but I’m also certain at least a few of these fish have found their way up there… We did not toss to any visible fish on my one day midstream, (where they are often visible) but we did see plenty of them and Mother Nature was definitely taking its course!
A few of the pools we fished held plenty and some were surprisingly thin, but I guess that’s to be expected in these conditions. Cover some water until you find them and keep in mind that all methods do work in all of our water so fish how you like, just be sure you’re legal in using that method for where you are at.
I’m about as booked as I want to be thru mid-October, but I believe we do still have a few open dates with others if you’re interested in jumping in a guide boat for a great day of play! 👍😎🎣 Per usual I have blocked off the week from October 15th to the 22nd to put a reset my physical and mental status, but if you are interested in a scouting mission in the lower river for new arrival Steelhead you may be able to talk me into that personally during that time.
