Hey guys, I know that when I posted the link to John’s latest report on Tuesday to our social media sites, I mentioned that I would post myself either on Thursday or Friday so, here it is, but probably not the one you were expecting…

Turns out I’ve been busier than I anticipated since our return and haven’t found the time to write a good one as well as resize the plethora of photos I have from it for our website so instead, I’m dedicating this one to all of the men and women who have given their lives to the service of this great nation and its people…

While not always completely successful, I do at least try to live by this mantra…

(I’ll have much more time this weekend and next week to peck away at that larger report as well as more pertinent information to the PM in it and our Argentina trip so you can expect to see that sometime after this weekend.)

As it stands, I’ve got a half day trip this evening, but after that I’m pretty wide open until next Friday 5/29 if anyone is interested in getting out with me and then again until Monday 6/8 “at the moment”. We have other guides available also (group trip anyone!? 😎) as well as openings at the Motel BBT. (231) 745-3529 8am to 6pm daily to check on or to book your date(s)! 👍🎣

Come ride with me! 😎

“All gave some and some gave all.” Always comes to mind when I think of Memorial Day and I’d like to remind everyone that this one is set aside solely for those that gave all… While there is never really an inappropriate time to thank a veteran, I’d say that this weekend is about as close as you can come to that just from conversations in private with most of the vets I know…

No words needed…

That being said, everyone is also well aware that those thanks are sincere and come from a good place in the heart so no real worries if you’re amongst the many that mix it all up a bit. It actually never ceases to amaze me how many people confuse the meanings behind Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day & Veterans Day but it is still nice to see those very same people take the time out of their day to give that thanks. For those that don’t know, here’s a little refresher:

Every single day is Memorial Day in my home…

Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day all honor the U.S. military, but each recognizes a distinct group of service members. They celebrate those currently in uniform, remember those who died in service, and thank all who have ever served…

Armed Forces Day

  • When: Observed on the third Saturday in May.
  • The Meaning: This day honors all currently serving men and women across all branches of the United States military (Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Space Force and Air Force). It was established in 1949 to unify the separate branch-specific celebrations (like Army Day and Navy Day) under a single national observance following the creation of the Department of Defense.

Memorial Day

  • When: Observed on the last Monday in May.
  • The Meaning: This somber day is dedicated to honoring and mourning the service members who died while serving in the U.S. military, particularly those who made the ultimate sacrifice in combat or from wounds sustained in battle. It originated in the post-Civil War era as “Decoration Day” and is not intended to be a celebratory holiday or a day to thank living veterans.

Veterans Day

  • When: Observed annually on November 11.
  • The Meaning: This holiday is a time to thank and honor all living veterans who served in the military, both in times of war and peace. Originally established as Armistice Day to mark the end of World War I, it was later broadened to celebrate all American veterans.

So, there you have it if you didn’t know, now you know! 😎 I do hope that you all have a wonderful weekend full of good times and loads of fun but PLEASE take at least a little of that time out to remember and honor those that died in the service of making it all possible. I can tell you in all sincerity that every single day truly is Memorial Day in my home and in my heart, I hope it is in yours as well…

Be safe, be well & play nice if you can… -Steve-
