Current shop hours are 8am to 6pm seven days a week!  The shop WAS stuffed with inventory…including flies, rods, waders and all terminal tackle.  Unfortunately, we are STILL waiting for some items/inventory/flies that we ordered in October…go figure!!!!  We are doing our best and have the BEST staff ever!!!!  Come in and grab a cup of coffee on a cold/rainy day and find out!  If we don’t have something you are looking for please let us know and we will track it down for you.  We are a “FISHING” shop that caters to fishermen and their needs to fish the Pere Marquette River and the Lake county area!

We have set a date for the spring River Clean-Up..Saturday, April 23, 2022…more detail to follow and hope you can join us and/or grab a friend to help out!  It is a very worthy cause and worth donating a day towards river karma.  It’s an incredible resource, so let’s keep it pure and protected!  Even if you can’t join us on the official clean-up date…do your part and grab every little bit you can along the way!  Thank you!

The trout bite has also picked up this week with more spawing activity and fry beginning to hatch.  Hex nymphs, sparrows, stones and fry have been “go to” patterns for me this week.  And of course, eggs in the normal pale pinks and light oranges have been getting bites…go bigger in higher water if the conditions change, but #8’s and #10’s have been doing fine.

Here are a couple that did not swim out of the net…Many, Many more were bagged, measured and released for my Great Lakes Angler Diary…”Love ’em & Leave ’em!”

Steve had an EPIC day!!!!
Beast Mode!!!
John with a nice buck in HIGH water!
Joe with a bonus brown…best fish of the day!
Chrome in high water!!!
Ray with a rainbow!
Jim getting it done!

It has been an amazing week (with several factors on the move)…high water, cold water, dropping water….now it’s going up again.  Be careful wade fishing and use common sense on float trips….better to be safe then sorry!  I have a sore back and dinner is ready….good luck and report out next week!

I have been thinking and talking about some trout fishing over the last week.  Streamer action is starting to pick up with white and natural colored small patterns…while the fry bite is happening.  Look for larger and darker patterns to produce in higher water conditions.  I have a couple new tricks up my sleeve with new patterns this spring…we will see how they work???  I have several days available for streamer trips from now through mid-May!  After Easter I have plenty of openings, if anyone is interested for a day on the river!!!  Call 231-745-3529.

Thanks,

John
