Hey guys, as you can see from the graphs below, despite the additional showers overnight, the river, as of now, continues to drop in the upper reaches and has leveled off in the far lower from the peak spike that this past Saturday’s storms and snow melt brought us.

Yesterday (Tuesday) morning at 5am. Bowman’s Bridge station…
This morning (Wednesday) at 8am. Bowman’s Bridge station…
Yesterday (Tuesday) at 5am. Scottville station…
Today (Wednesday) at 8am. Scottville station…

It is conceivable that some additional rains today could cause another temporary upward trend, but it is highly doubtful that it will go nearly as far or for very long with most of the snow having already been melted into the system and the clarity is pretty good high and low. (I cannot speak for the middle just yet as I do not have first-hand accounts.)

Good thing Jake got us on the board yesterday and he did so on video! (C&D with an Oregon cheese egg fly.)

A higher resolution version of the video I posted in social media yesterday!

I’ve had more than a few people interested in what became of the letters they sent in regarding new Steelhead regulations. In short, there is more work to be done for sure, (Stay tuned) but it was “somewhat” of a win, results of the NRC meeting can be found here in this link.

Steve’s first fish to hand on Monday…
His last one was slightly nicer! Solid work on a slow bite buddy…

Once again, I have not been very diligent in my river reporting as of late, but it’s wintertime and you’ll have that. Usually, it’s the guys at the shop that get it the worst as the result is just more phone calls, but if you follow our social media feeds (Copied right here if you scroll down on our home page in the sidebar and bottom if you don’t have an account.) you’ll gain quite a bit of information and see some of the photos prior to being put into a report.

Our recent annual 3 boat group trip with the “Clarkston Catholic Fishing Club” was a great success. Below are just a few of the fish from my boat…

All of the usual methods of angling continue to take fish when you find them, and the recent high water appears to have finally shuffled the deck a bit as well! There was a definite push of fish from the lower river moving up and I expect that we’ll see a few newcomers joining us from the lake as well. Simply put, we are excited at the prospect of better fishing in the mid and upper reaches now as the river returns to normal.

Kam and I had a great time fishing with one of our fellow AK guides Puffy not long ago…

As is our tradition we are still offering our “Holiday Special” of 20% Off Gift Certificates until December 24th, 2021. (These discounted certificates are redeemable for shop merchandise and lodging, not applicable for guide trips, but regular guide trip certificates make a great gift as well!!!) This is our way of saying thank you and, hopefully making it a bit easier for you to spend with us rather than a big box store or on-line for items we carry! (Or can order for you.)

John, Kam and I had a fun guides day off recently as well…

Keep in mind that we also do phone orders with quick mailing if you can’t stop in and these certificates along with any other merchandise can be mailed directly to your home, business or elsewhere! Our current shop hours are 9am to 5pm Wednesday to Monday and closed on Tuesday right now. Phone number is: (231) 745-3529 (Please call back or leave a message if we are unable to answer. With only one employee in the shop at a time now it can be difficult to always answer immediately.)

Merry Christmas everyone from all of us at BBT!!

Happy Holidays -Steve-
