The further down you go the higher and more stained it is, but we’re only seeing a small spike so far from the recent scattered storms and I expect it to remain fishable. Anglers have been having good to great success in all sections from M-37 down to Walhalla and even below that in the swamp both subsurface and on top, but BEWARE!

9;15am today. You can see the spike starting at M-37 here from yesterday’s passing storms, but I do not “expect” it to really blow out again…

Many sections still have some very tough obstacles to get by and “last I knew” there was at least one blow down that was impassable between Upper and Lower branch bridge. There could well be more that I am unaware of so, if you float, be sure to be prepared to cut and/or portage as necessary…

Along the way down…

Sulphurs and Drakes have both been popping well along with a variety of others on a smaller scale…

I’ve found a few subsurface on the run, hit some on the hatch and even though we were not doing a full “mousing trip” and were off before midnight we still found some that went bump in the night…

A bit of the night bite…

Dennis (Shown above) and I are back at it tonight, but will have to be off before dark this time and then my longest running client in the books and great friend Paul is joining me tomorrow. That being said, due to Covid issues my usual summer departure has been delayed to Alaska’s Naknek River Camp (We are shooting to be open for the 4th of July right now.) so, I just opened up some dates and now have an almost entirely open calendar for the fantastic month of June!!

Yea, I got to catch one too! Thanks Dennis…

Streamers, drakes, sulphers, mice and hex!! (Spin trips welcome too!!) It’s gonna be fun to play in the old summer haunts, please come join me… Text me direct at 231-233-4533 or, call the shop at 231-745-3529 We have motel and other guide openings available as well!!
