Current shop hours are 9am – 5pm (Closed on Wednesday’s until March).

The clock is ticking, we are gaining daylight everyday and getting closer to our spring steelhead season.  I have been busy getting things prepared for the spring season and filling my fly boxes.  We still have some great dates available for guided trips and lodging at our Motel.  We have John Robinson, Donnie Richards, Kam Zamites, Steve and myself all guiding this spring out of BBT!  Please feel free to give us a call to inquire or make reservations.  My personal open guide dates are: March 1, 4, 5, 9 – 11 and April 5, 10, 12, 14, 19 – 24…please contact the shop to lock in a date on the river with me or us….231-745-3529.

The Pere Marquette river is currently in great shape with fish scattered throughout the system.  I have heard some very good reports, but I have not had time to sneak out since returning home from Argentina.  Soon enough, I will have some first hand info and pictures.  Standard nymphs and egg patterns are working either bottom bouncing or under a float.  Plus, swinging streamers is a great option in colder water.  (Please be mindful beads are illegal in the fly water; even when pegged above a nymph).  We are experiencing a mild winter thus far, so who knows what February and March will bring?  Keep your fingers crossed!  Good luck out there and please be safe!

Argentina 2020

First and foremost, I would like to thank all our guests that traveled with us (Scott, Joe, Howard, Joe, Bill, Russ, Jack & Susan).  It was our pleasure hosting the trip and sharing such a great experience with all of you.  And of course, we could not do it without our partnership/outfitter in Patagonia (Fly Maniacs)!  Pedro, your guides and team are a well oiled machine with our best interests always in mind.  No detail is ever over-looked, nor ignored and all skill levels are welcome.  Fly Maniacs put the guests first and it shows throughout the operation.  This is an exceptional outfitter from top to bottom.  Our partnership with Fly Maniacs is strong and continues to grow as business partners, but more importantly as friends!!!

We have been hosting this trip for over 10 years and every year we notice improvements (hard to believe it can get better?  But it does!).  From the lodging accommodations, weekly itineraries & logistics, meals and the fishing…It is our pleasure working with you guys  but, more importantly, I value our friendships!  Thank you Pedro, Julio, Guillermo, Nico, Mendo, Pablo and the rest of the crew…gracias!!!!  Looking forward to next year already!!!

We hosted two weeks this year.  We had to battle mother nature a couple days, but you can’t control the weather.  High winds made a couple days of fishing very challenging, but we did our best and still caught plenty of trout.  We mostly tossed streamers, but had a few guests bouncing big dry flies around a couple days with good success.  We covered four different rivers over the trip…Rio Limay, Rio Caleufu, Rio Manso & Rio Collon Cura.  Two overnight expeditions (Camping) and day trips out of Bariloche & Villa Llanquin.  Excellent itinerary each week with incredible meals & wine all along the way!

Next years dates and rates are set – January 9 – 16, 2021 and January 16 – 23, 2021.  We are taking deposits ($1,000) now to hold your spot. The package price per person based on double occupancy is US $3,950.00 and includes:

  • Six full days guided fishing (with expert, local bilingual (Spanish-English) fly-fishing guide)
  • All your lodging, meals and beverages (including beer & wine with meals).
  • Transportation to and from the Airport in Bariloche

…contact the shop to reserve your spot! 231-745-3529.
