Sorry for the delay in reports.  It has been a very busy couple weeks for me.  Trying to get all the fall orders placed for the shop, tying flies to fill my boxes, hunting early kings; plus, my daughters first week in Kindergarten.  Anyways, the king fishing has been off to a slow start, but gaining momentum each day.  I have been fishing hardware in the lower river.  We are working for action each day, but spotting increasing numbers each day.

Scott with his first even on a plug!!!

There have been a couple decent pushes of kings over the past week.  Still no huge waves yet, but hopefully any day…keep your fingers crossed.  The fish have been large and in charge.  Our landing ratio is lower then normal due to the size and strength of these angry kings.  Stick baits and spinners have been my approach thus far.  I have heard of a “few” fishable pods scattered throughout the river, but “here today and gone tomorrow”.

It is starting to feel like fall with the cooler evenings, football and even some maple trees turning.  The next couple months will be memorable.  It is about to get busier, so please respect other anglers space on the river.

Another that did not get away

The shop is loaded up with everything you might need or just want!  Shop hours are still 8am – 6pm seven days a week, but we will be adjusting that very soon (extended hours coming soon).  We still have some guide dates available and lodging…please give us a call to inquire 231-745-3529.  My current open dates are: September 3 & 4  October 14, 15, 16 and then we will be hunting steelhead (still prime openings in late October and November for Steelhead).

Looking forward to a great fall season and excited to see some monster fish in my net.  I am ready…good luck and see you on the river!!!

Later,

John
