We are hosting our spring river Clean-up tomorrow, April 20, 2019. 9am at the shop to meet and take sections then 6pm at my pole barn for dinner… (Please call the shop and let them know how many for dinner. It will help us in planning! 231-745-3529) We will cover your car spot fees, dinner is on us, beer is flowing and river karma is available… Please help us keep this amazing resource wild and scenic!

One of Jeff’s I didn’t get in the last report.

I’m coming to you live once again from the river! (Haven’t been out long and we’ve lost four Steelhead in the heavy flows so already… ) I actually postponed a trip with a client and his wife for today thinking the river would be blow out from all the recent storms, but it’s only up about an inch from where it’s shown here yesterday at 2pm and the visibility is good… (I think she’ll enjoy warmer weather better later anyway.)

Green Cottage 2pm Thursday.

Found out my buddy Steve from Barski was free for today last night and Dennis is already up for the cleanup so we decided to do a fun float today. A few fish, some venison brats, tasty ale treats and great company. Can’t beat that!

27 years and counting! Always a great time Paul, always…

i’ve had a number of days off since my last report with various medical appointments and such so I’m a little low on the photos for ya, but rest assured we are still in it strong. The peak has come and gone, but there are plenty of fish around and I expect that it’ll stay that way right into May.

25 years running around with this one!

I did get the chance to guide some new to me folks since my last report and that’s always fun for me getting to know new people and playing “guide” again. It’s easy to take for granted all of the regulars I guide every fall and spring and the easy relationships we’ve grown into. Both days with new clients resulted in not only fishing success, but we’ve got trips on the books for next year already to start our own new streaks…

John and I had an absolute blast with these guys shown above last Saturday and despite very high traffic we kept the net wet all day while losing our share as well. Dark water for drop backs and new arrivals was our key to success! Looking forward to next year already guys…

I was happy to be off the river on Sunday  with the big snow storm that came thru dumping about 8 or 9” in my back yard show above as I am currently recovering from and on medication for bronchitis.  The rains on Monday didn’t make me sad to not be out either…

I was “covered” on Tuesday!

Don, one of those new clients for me, and I had a great time on Tuesday despite the rain. With only one client onboard I was able to toss up the ‘ole umbrella and stay a little drier while he played with lots of fish…

Don joined the 20” club with a nice brown that hit it plus a half inch and another in the mid teens to wet our appetite for trout season. We lost a bunch of hot bright fish and tamed a couple battle worn bucks for the win. I’m looking forward to this trip next year also…

We (Dennis and Steve, not me, I’ve been typing!!) are now up to 10 fish lost and zero landed. I’m only attributing part of that to the heavy flows at this point. The rest is straight up farmers only dot com crap! ;^) Guess I’m gonna get off here and show ‘em how it’s done.

Double digit hookups and no landing love so far! Hehehehe….

If you’re interested in spending a day on the water with me I still have April 22 to 25 open as well as the 30th and plenty of dates in May. Let’s go fishing and start a new tradition if we don’t already have one!!

Tight lines all,

Steve
