Hi guys, looks like Steve and John finally talked me into posting a report every so often! With the weather about to turn and new fish entering the system I should have more news for you soon, but consider this a sort of “test post” for now.

Enjoying a “guides day off” with Steve and John.

I did get out on the water with Steve and John the other day for a very quick afternoon float. We lost the only Steelhead we had on in our limited time, but caught a few trout and enjoyed some good food, friendship and tasty beverages!

Typical guide fare!

The water is currently low and clear, but with longer days and warming temps that should change on our first good melt off. Hopefully that doesn’t all happen at once as we do have a great snow base to keep the levels up over the course of the spring!

A nice resident.

Looks like the weather turns for the good starting this weekend and remains “spring like” from there on out. My next trip at the moment is this Saturday and the rest of my open days in March are: 10th thru the 13th, 16th, 23rd and 29th. There are also open dates in April that I will update in my next report and we do have another guide or guides available on most days throughout the season. Call the shop to book your trip or check on other motel/guide dates. 231-745-3529

The one to finish off our quick trip.

Our current shop hours are Wednesday to Monday (Closed Tuesday) 9am to 5pm, but I understand that this will likely change this week some time, stay tuned!
That’s all I have for you right now so I’ll go ahead and see how this looks for a first attempt and I will likely post again after my trip on Saturday with more detailed river info.

See ya on the river,
John

I am a native of Lake County and have been guiding on the river since 1993. The Pere Marquette has been my playground since childhood and I feel truly blessed to have been born and raised along such an epic river. It brings great joy to my life guiding the waters that my great, great grand parents fished and swam in as children. Whether your goal is indigenous trout or migratory fish the Pere Marquette offers year round fishing opportunities. With over 70 miles of mainstream waters it is truly a great place to be a fishing guide! I've learned a lot of tricks for catching fish on the Pere Marquette and would love to pass that knowledge along to you so, if you're interested in spending a quality day (Or more! ;^) on the water with me just call the shop to set up your trip(s)! Until then, tight lines! John
