Hi guys,

Sorry it’s been a minute since last report, but I continue to burn the proverbial candle at both ends and I’m loving it… Hopefully the Facebook and Instagram post I have been doing have shown up in the feeds on our site here for ya!

Spent three great days with Eric and Mike!

A beautiful wild Pere Marquette River fall Steelhead to start us off for Eric.

A fantastic Salmon season is in the books and I am now well into, what is starting out to be, a fantastic fall Steelhead season! I guided the past 4 days to kick it off and found fish to play with, even landing a few of those missiles, to start a daily success streak that I hope continues.

Nothing wrong with hitting a nice Coho as your first either! Right Mike? ;^)

I have today “off” except the for the fact that I need to get this report done, float a section of river with John this afternoon to do our part in the Brown Trout redd survey for the Pere Marquette Chapter of TU and a long list of other chores after that… (OK, not really “off”. ;^)

The fish have been HOT, but here’s another one that didn’t get away!

I just picked up a few more trips that will, along with the river cleanup on Saturday (Call the shop and join us!) keep me on the river every day now until next Tuesday, but I do have some GREAT dates still available after that…

This perfect PM specimen more than made up for those others that won the battles!

My current open dates are October 30 & 31 then in November, prime time, I’ve got a ton of open dates at the moment, but they are steadily filling now… As of this moment: November 1 & 2, 6 – 8, 11 – 13, 18 – 21 & 24 – 30.

Might as well mix it up!
X2! ;^)

So far I’ve been mixing it up successfully using and catching fish on both flies and pitching hardware in between. A preferred method of “searching” for me, but whatever you like to do is also what I’m up for! These fall fish are hot and hard to handle no matter the method and landing them is an awesome challenge. An adrenaline rush would hardly describe it!

After a flurry of fish at the end of day three we finished on a high note with this beauty!

I had a fantastic time with David and Terri yesterday!

It’s a good first stop start for Terri!

We started the day off with this small pike for Terri, then moved on losing a few heartbreakers including one MASSIVE chrome buck that simply could not be stopped by Terri, (Or anyone else for that matter! ;^) but David put a dandy to hand shortly after that to keep my “streak” alive.

Lost a couple of heartbreakers before this stout & wild Pere Marquette River buck!

All in all a great day with two fine people I hope to fish with again. Right at the end of the day Terri was all fished out, but I managed to convince her to make “just a few more cast” in our last run before the take out and she was rewarded for her effort with a very nice Pere Marquette River Coho! I love those moments, it reminds me of why I love being a guide, not that I need reminding! ;^) Thanks again guys, hope to see you again soon!

Sometimes when the guide forces you to make “a few more cast” at the end of the day it pays off! Nice Coho Terri! (A consolation prize for that magazine cover buck Steelhead that got away… ;^)

Don’t have much more for you right now. We saw a good push of Steelhead into the middle and upper portions after that last high water proving some opportunity in all sections and new fish continue to trickle in. Some Kings and Cohos are on the redds yet and Brown trout are beginning to spawn as well. Please be careful around these areas…

PS. I am dropping the second week at the Blue Bonefish Lodge in Belize due to some committals that had to back out, but we do still have openings in the week of January 19th to 26th for a great trip hosted by myself and my wife Karen. Check out our Belize Page for details!
