Shop Hours 8am – 6pm everyday or Shop On-Line anytime at BBT On-Line Store

Just wanted to toss up a quick update before the weekend.  The upper river has cleared up nicely and dropped back to normal levels; however, the lower river is still colored up.  Water temps have cooled way off too (in the upper 50’s to low 60’s).  Fall is in the air for sure!

We have been extremely busy preparing for the season and the shop is packed with gear, flies, tying material, lures and everything else you need (or just want).  We are ready!  I finally got out to scout the river and confirmed the presence of some kings in the system.  It is very spotty still, but as the water is dropping and clearing the fish are settling into some of the well know “early” holding spots.  Don’t get me wrong, there not a ton of fish yet.  It’s hit and miss, with many blank spots in the system.  Covering water will increase founding a nice group.

The lower river should start producing more consistently with the water (level & temps) dropping and clearing.  Tossing crank baits and spinners is a great way to target kings.  If you have never done it…give it a try!  The strikes are amazing!!!  We still have some guide availability for September 5, 6 & 7 if you want to jump in a boat for the day…give us a call 231-745-3529.

There are some big fish this year, so hold on!!!!  Please respect your fellow angler and give people space.  “Ask before you Cast” is a good policy to avoid issues.  Let’s all have fun and enjoy the season.  Good luck and have a great holiday weekend…summer went by way too fast.

Also, we are looking to hire at least one new shop employee and maybe two?  Please spread the word..

We are looking for full or part time Shop Clerk(s). Job responsibilities include: operating our Point of Sale terminals, greeting customers, answering phone calls, providing fishing reports, making reservations for our guides and motel, keeping the shop clean and checking in inventory/restocking shelves.
Knowledge of the Pere Marquette River and the area would be beneficial, but a desire to learn and a great attitude are most important. Experience with fly fishing, fly tying and conventional gear would be a plus.
This is a (full or part time) seasonal employment opportunity, but could develop into year round employment. Starting pay is $10/hour with growth opportunities. This is a team environment that is customer focused. We value our employees and customer relationships are a top priority.
Please contact us if you would like to join the BBT team!
Later,
John
