The shop is open 7am – 7pm daily!!!! We are doing our best to keep product on the shelves; yet the supply chain is still distorted…working on it! Thank you very, very much for all the support and keeping our guides busy. We truly appreciate it after last April!!! We have scheduled our river clear-up for May 1…save the date….more details coming. We NEED to clean, PROTECT and RESPECT our amazing resource. This river is a Wild and Scenic river for a reason!!!
Spring has certainly sprung! The water level is LOW and CLEAR…that is a bad combination for spring steelhead fishing on the Pere Marquette River and a rare combination at this time of year. Fishing has been tougher then normal for this time of year. We need some rain and/or overcast weather would help on most days. Mother Nature decides the outcome and we have to adjust our approach!
The water temps are in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s and bugs are hatching. Small BWO’s are popping in size #16-20 and small black stones are hatching on warmer afternoons! I have not been able to target a rising trout yet this season, but it will happen very soon! The trout action has been really good over the last couple days. Salmon fry are hatching, bugs are popping and steelhead eggs are rolling = fat and happy brown trout!!!
I had the pleasure of guiding my first streamer trip of the season yesterday! It was not only productive, but fun and exciting. We caught some great browns and hooked/rolled a few steelhead! Light colored streamers with some “bling” paid off, but we rolled through some colors to get reactions….white, yellow, olive and tan. Looking forward to slapping the banks in the near future…some of our strikes yesterday were breath-taking!
