Join us for a great time, great food and great beer! ;^)

The Salmon run continues to be strong, but on a couple of days last week, (Thursday and Friday mid-river.) fish were moving so hard and not holding in the pools to the point we had to fish some gravel to get it done. Those were overcast and/or rainy days and my hope is to find more staging fish rather than spawning ones to finish off this season, (Trips after the 15th for me are considered “Steelhead trips” with a possibility of tossing for some quality Salmon if we find them.) but there are quality fish in both types of water depending on your preference.

Still no problem finding pools stuffed with fish on my annual trip with Jeff and Deb last Tuesday! Got our butts kicked PLENTY and put a few of those hot fish to hand. Here’s a couple of shots from the day and thanks guys, love ya!!

Some Steelhead are starting to show and we are spotting a few daily. We haven’t spent any real time “targeting” them yet , but a couple have found John’s net as well as others incidentally while fishing Kings in pools and runs and we’ve all had some on that won the day! Big fun no matter how you look at it and I am excited to switch gears soon. The recent rains should bring us a good push!!

Had to work harder on Wednesday with Karen and Paula to find fish in staging pools rather than gravels where we saw plenty, but we did it and had a blast getting it handed to us for the most part from those fish NOT tired from spawning! Here’s one of a couple that Karen tamed and I’m looking forward to next year ladies. It was a hoot!

I did a group trip on Thursday with relatively new anglers where the group leaders plan was already sight fishing. Not a big fan as you know, but it worked out and everyone had a great time. Lots of fish moving and none really holding in the few pools I tried briefly anyway…

A couple of many to hand! See you guys next year and thanks for making it a fun time!

Friday was a learning day for the father and son team of Bill and Ross, new anglers to my boat. Hooked a few fish from some scarcely occupied pools mid-river, but ultimately wound up landing a few from gravels to get some more practice playing these beast. Great having you guys and I look forward to a variety of trips in the future. (i.e. Fall Steelhead!! ;^)

Ross’s first to hand.

Had yesterday and today blocked off so no news from that other than getting some much needed rest. I think I’ll jump on the bike this afternoon for some wind therapy then call it good for the day and be rested for the next push… That’s all I’ve got for now, Till next time, tight lines…
