Hey guys, sorry it’s been a minute since last report, but I figured most of you, like me, are about ready to switch gears after what has been a great, albeit long, Salmon season! Our focus is officially on Steelhead now and the recent rains along with some cooler weather appear to be pushing some new fish in. We have some great dates available in October yet as well as November so please call the shop to check on openings and let’s go chase some chrome!! 1-231-745-3529

It’s that time again!

Fall River Clean-Up - Saturday, October 21 Please join us for the day and help keep our river beautiful. We will meet at the shop at 8am, formulate a plan to cover as much river as possible, hit the river and re-group at the Pole Barn for dinner around 6pm. Please call to shop to let us know you will be helping (we will need a head count for food). As always, car spots and dinner are on us to show our appreciation for your support and effort, but you are welcome to bring a dish to share if you wish and BYOB. Thank you and hope to see many of you again this year!!!

Put plenty of Kings to hand since last report, but only took a couple of shots. Fun day on one of my last king trips with Bob and Paul…

Had my first full day of chrome seeking with John and Joe for a welcome change of pace! Decided to start off looking for silver and see how it went then switch to a few Kings if we needed some action. Long story short, out of a half dozen hookups with hot chrome fish I can only say for certain that three of those were Steelhead, (Possibly a few chrome Cohos in the mix?) but lady luck was not on our side on the landing end of things outside of a few nice trout in the mix as well. GREAT time fellas and I am soooo glad the action was steady!!

Yea, I actually like watching a well presented bobber rig! ;^)

Best trout of the day. Nice work Joe!

Headed downriver with Charlie and Jimmy shortly after a good rain hoping to intercept a push of fresh Steel, but lots of hard fishing only produced a couple of short strikes for us and one nice Coho. Still not convinced that the fish weren’t there and either just pushing to hard or simply not biting. Water conditions were perfect, but the barometer was all over the place and we has some weird weather…

Looking forward to more mornings like this.

Great fish Charlie! One you don’t mind taking a picture with… ;^)

Took Marshal and Mollie out on Marshall’s birthday looking for a little Steel and, a little (Or, medium! ;^) Steel is what we actually got to hand outside of a number of smaller trout, but we did have some other hot fish on that got the best of us and it was a great day with a great friend and his daughter!

Thanks Marshall, see you in November!!

Moved further upriver the next day with regulars Bill and his son Andrew due to concerns over water clarity in the lower river after heavy rains. Only managed to hookup with one hot Steelhead from a run that, unfortunately, managed to toss the hook after a long solid battle on Andrew’s end, but between that one and some nice trout we had a great day of it. Saw plenty of anglers targeting Salmon yet who seemed to be having fun, but I’m not sure how much longer that any number of quality Kings will be around.

Camera did not do the fall colors justice…

Blocked off Monday and Tuesday for some fun in the city with Steve from Barski who invited me to a Steely Dan concert. Needless to say, we had a blast not only at the concert, but also touring his old neighborhood as well as downtown!

Great musicians to this day!

Speaking of Steve, Barski is having a Founders based tasting night November 5th! This will be a seven course meal with seven different beers paired with it! (Including the rare and popular KBS!) Contact Barski for ticket information while they last (231-745-6015) I believe there are less than 20 tickets left at this point.

Join us for a great time, great food and great beer! ;^)

Haven’t seen the river in a few days now, but I expect it’s just about perfect and I’ll find out for sure on my Steelhead/Trout trip tomorrow. That’s about all I’ve got for you right now, my open dates in October yet are the 24th, 27th, 29th, 30th and 31st if you’re interested. Call the shop to check on November, the calendar changes almost daily… 1-231-745-3529

Tight lines all,
Steve
