Well, I’ve gone and done it again. I’ve simply spent all of my time this past week either on the river with clients, spending time with my wife and/or riding my bike or, just having beers with my friends. In other words, I left no time to type so if I’m going to get this report up before the weekend it’s going to short on words…
Another drone shot from Jeff.
Not much to say really that hasn’t been said by either John or myself in our last few reports. The water is still very low and clear, the weather is hot and so are the fish! Bigger, stronger fish on average this year is making for fewer fish landed in the pools of the mid and lower river where we’ve been spending our time, but the further up you go the more “tired” they are and that ratio goes up a bit.
Had a great time on our group trip this past Thursday.
Scott’s daughter Mckinzie did great on her first father daughter river dance! A real pleasure spending time with you guys…
Had Saturday off then guided on Sunday and simply got my a@# handed to me. Ran a long section of river, but fell into a bad rotation and never really got into a “hot spot”. Lots of fish moving, but tough to get on the go… Had a great time with Jim anyway as always and it was really fun to see Dianna again as well. We'll get em on our net trip this fall buddy! ;^)
Monday was the opposite of Sunday and we lost count of the battles. Too busy playing with fish to play with the camera much and a fun time as always with “the professor” and crew!
Mike, Matt and I found our fish in the deep wood on Tuesday. LOTS of action, but most found said wood ! Hehehe. Great having you guys.
Plenty of action on Wednesday as well with first time clients Bob and Lou. Had some great battles to go along with the great company and after an epic struggle Bob landed the one that counted. Biggest fish I’ve had in my net this year thus far and a day maker for all of us. I did not stress this fish further by digging out the scale, but a quick length measurement on my boat gave us right at 42 inches. Normally it takes 43 to 44 inches on a great lakes King to make a true 30 pounder, but this guy surpassed that number for sure with his impressive girth! Looking forward to next year already guys…
Couldn’t wipe that smile of our faces if you tried! Great catch Bob!
Had some more first timers Aaron and Dennis yesterday. Plenty of action and tons of fish on, but no love for the net in the tight spaced woody pools we found ‘em in. We “almost” broke down and fished a little gravel just to wet the net before the day was out, but decided to stick with the memory of the quality fish we’d had on instead. Thanks for a great day guys! That’s all I’ve got for now, Till next time, tight lines…
