Save the date – The Fall River Clean-Up will be Saturday – October 25…Please reach out to the shop (231-745-3529) ahead of time to let us know if you are planning on attending…it’s nice to have a “ballpark” headcount to prepare for the BBQ appreciation dinner.  9am at the shop to assign beats, grab trash, figure out pairings and take a photo.  The shop will provide the trash bags and cover your car spot fee, plus we will be hosting a BBQ at Steve’s barn next door at 6pm.  It’s always a very satisfying day with lots for great stories, some treasures collected and tons of laughs!!!  Great river karma and possibly even a steelhead or two might get caught???  We hope you can join us for the day and help protect & persevere our beloved Pere Marquette River!

The river is still extremely low and clear!  It’s finally starting to feel like fall!  Cool mornings & evenings with comfortable daytime highs.  We had a few hard frosts even which has accelerated the leaves turning and dropping.  We even had ice in the guides a few mornings…which felt great!  Very soon we will be exclusively hunting steelhead, but there are still plenty of kings around to keep a bend in your rod.   I have been seeing fresh kings pushing up stream daily, but we are loosing more than gaining.

Lots of food in the river!!!

The “Egg Wash” is huge still!  There is no shortage of food for the trout and steelhead right now.  Not to sound like a broken record, but we really need some significant rain to flush the river system out.  I have been spotting a few steelhead here and there over the last week, but they have been in very random places.  It will start to develop and get more consistent in a few weeks…flush out some more salmon and bring up a few more steelies.  Next week we will be completely switched over to looking for steelhead, so if you are interested in a guide trip please contact the shop…231-745-3529…we have some great dates available in late October thru December.

Thank you for your continued support of our Shop, Motel and Guides!!!  We appreciate the business and friendships.  It’s a competitive industry and easy to shop on-line, but walking into a local shop with “boots on the ground” is one of our biggest assets!  We have guides on the river everyday…a shop staff that fishes on their days off…honest and recent fishing reports…a friendly shop atmosphere that welcomes new anglers to seasoned veterans…fly fishing or spin fishing – we do it all!!!  If you haven’t fished with us or stopped into the shop…please do!!!

It was a great Salmon season and once again “THANK YOU!” to all our clients and guests that fished with us this season.  Another fantastic week in the books on the Pere Marquette River!!!  I am looking forward to the “next chapter”…Fall steelheading!!!

A great coupe days with Dave and Tom…see you next spring!!!

“Salmon Fest” 2025…everyone had a blast!

Double dipper!!!

Troy did an awesome job…one on a thunderstruck and several on the fly rod.

Fish-ON!!!
Mission accomplished…Sandra wasn’t at school and caught several kings!

This will be my last salmon report for the season…it was a blast and it’s not over!  I have a couple more trips and then will be taking some R&R and preparing for the best fishing of the year….fall steelhead!  I will have an updated report shortly after the Clean-Up…until then…good luck out there!

Later!
