Shop Hours are 7am – 7pm Daily
Well it is “officially” fall, but it still does not feel like it. However, the leaves are turning and starting to drop…hard to believe October is just a day away! Time flies when you are chasing fish and having fun; not to mention burning the candle at both ends! We have been extremely busy and appreciate it very much…thank you for all the guide trips, motel bookings and shopping at our store! As I have stated many times, without our clients/customers we would not be doing what we love to do…THANK YOU!!!
There has been no real change in conditions. The river is still low and clear. We did get some rain last week that slightly bumped up the flows and added a “touch” of color to the middle and lower river for a few days. That did get some fish moving up river and we watched a couple impressive days of migrating fish. There are plenty of fish spawning now and lots of new arrivals holding in the pools and runs still. The Kings are throughout the entire river system now, but still spotty in certain sections. “Fish throughout the river system” does not mean, everything is loaded and full of fish. The river is NOT loaded top to bottom. Covering water and exploring some dark water will help you find some fish. There are plenty of new fish on the move daily and still holding in the lower river…we are going to see an extended season for sure!
The shop is getting “picked over”, but we are doing our best to reorder and re-load ASAP. We apologize for the inconvenience…but, ’tis the season; we have been swamped! We were a little conservative preparing for the season with the economic uncertainty, but we still stocked up big on inventory….not enough! Thank goodness; because it’s been flying out the door! THANK YOU and SORRY, if we don’t have what you need at the moment!!! We will get the shelves re-stocked! The guys at the shop have been working hard, the housekeeper have been busy and it feels good to be grinding everyday guiding the river! Catching up with long time clients, meeting new ones and seeing all the familiar faces on the river, at the shop and Motel.
Our guide staff is all booked up until Mid-October, but we still have some excellent dates available at our Motel. Plus, our fall/winter steelhead trips are starting to fill-up…it’s not too early to book your late-October/November steelhead trips…give us a call 231-745-3529. November is one of my favorite months to fish the Pere Marquette River…come see why!
Thank you for your continued support of our Shop, Motel and Guides!!! We appreciate the business and friendships. It’s a competitive industry and easy to shop on-line, but walking into a local shop with “boots on the ground” is one of our biggest assets! We have guides on the river everyday…a shop staff that fishes on their days off…honest and recent fishing reports…a friendly shop atmosphere that welcomes new anglers to seasoned veterans…fly fishing or spin fishing – we do it all!!! If you haven’t fished with us or stopped into the shop…please do!!!
Yet another fantastic week in the books on the Pere Marquette River!!! Lots of laughs and memories made…here is a slice of last week’s fun!!!

Please catch and release our wild Pere Marquette Salmon and Steelhead….the future depends on it! We have a wild fishery and each & every fish that spawns rejuvenates the next generation. The old line “their all going to die” is true, but they do need to spawn before they die…think about it!!! Our runs are a fraction of what they were 20+ years ago…times have changed and so should we…protect and preserve this valuable resource. We all love catching kings, but we don’t all love eating kings…let them swim away!
The statement above is my PERSONAL option of Catch & Release IN the river…I (personally) have nothing to do with running a Charter boat on the “Pond”….My friends do, but not me. And I wish them the best of luck with great success (and I know, they will crush it!). Despite, differing options, we are all still great friends…weather it’s fish, fishing regulations or “politics”. We all know river fish are not the table fare of catching them in the lake. But, if it’s legal… go for it! Please just don’t call me a hypocrite! Thank you!
