I recently returned home after, yet another, amazing adventure to Argentina!!! This was a re-peat trip from last May. Stripping streamers on the Rio Limay for 6 days in southern Argentina based out of Bariloche (Patagonia region). One of the greatest trout fisheries in the world!!! It is fall in the southern hemisphere (like our November). Pre-spawn and close to the end of their season (the season closes at the end of May). These are NOT sea run fish, but the river is fed by a large lake and many fish travel back and forth between the lake and river.
My long time friend (Scott) and I were invited back again after an awesome trip last year. I thought last year was a “once in a lifetime” opportunity, but we made it happen again!!! Thanks to our great friend and host Pedro (owner of “Fly Maniacs” Outfitters). We (BBT) have been fishing with Pedro and his team for almost 20 years…hard to believe!!! All of our BBT Hosted trips are in January to enjoy some warm weather and great trout fishing during our winter. Too many great memories over all these years with the “Fly Maniacs”!!!
I can’t thank you enough Pedro!!! Your generosity, positive attitude, witty humor and knowledge of your resource…it would (and could) not have happened without you! The weather was rough a couple days (cold, wet and windy), however we had more good weather than bad. Nothing a Michigan steelheader could not handle! The fishing is demanding, but you get rewarded!!! To say the trip was “Epic” would be an understatement…once in a lifetime again!!!

For January of 2026 we will be offering two options as our next trip! Option one is January 10th to the 17th for a total of 6 days fishing and 7 nights lodging at $4,995.00 and option two (The better bargain considering the travel time etc, in my opinion!) is January 10th to the 20th for a total of 9 days fishing and 10 nights lodging at $6,995.00. This is a trip of a lifetime, but that being said, we have had lots of repeat customers on it and it’s a deal that simply can’t be beat!
This includes:
- Either six or nine full days guided fishing with expert, local bilingual (Spanish-English) fly-fishing guide.
- All your lodging, meals and beverages (including beer & wine).
- Transportation to and from the Airport in Bariloche
