New Shop Hours Are 8am to 6pm Daily!

First and foremost, I want to remind everyone that we will be hosting our annual Fall River Clean-Up this Saturday, October 19th! We will meet at the shop at 8am to figure our float/boat or walk in assignments and all volunteers are welcome. Per usual we will provide the trash bags, cover the cost of your car shuttles and host an appreciation dinner at 6pm in my pole barn next to (South of) the shop afterwards. (BYOB)

Another fine year with Robert and Lila! Thanks again and we’ll see you soon… 😎

This will be our 28th fall river cleanup and over the years we’ve done a lot of great work with a whole lot of great people! We’ve seen attendance as high as 50-60 people back in the early days of the internet and as low as just 10-12 some years, but every year we make an impact for sure! Please call the shop to sign-up if you can make it so we can plan accordingly for dinner and we hope to see you there!!! (231) 745-3529

The rest of this “report” will be fairly short… While there are still plenty of Salmon around in the system in all stages from brand new to barely hanging in there, my “Salmon Season” officially ended on the 11th. Per usual I blocked off this week for some R&R as well as some “fun fishing” for myself before really kicking off the Fall Steelhead season.

Good times with some great groups…

I did have trips on the 13th & 14th, but I was lucky enough to have anglers who were willing to risk it scouting some lesser fished waters for any new Steelhead that may be showing up, possibly some Cohos and yes, even a few fresh Kings that happened to be interested in a smaller crank bait as well as a few Pike.

We did actually manage to hook some large adult Steelhead those days, (Beads & Hot-N-Tots) but sadly, those fish opted to not have their pictures taken… 🙄🤣 (Very stoked to see them however!) Had a few other fish that did hit the net, but other than the one “Skipper Steelhead” we opted to set them all free without any fanfare. It’s hard to get people excited about fall Steelies with pics of hammer handle Pike or Salmon, but I’ve been pretty bad about taking very many photos at all for myself in general. 🤷‍♂️

I may yet wind up sneaking out this afternoon/evening for a quick fish, but in all honesty, I’ve basically been lounging around with my wife and/or dogs for the past two days like a big lump on a log without any guilt or remorse, it’s been great!

My next open days to book are currently the 24th & 25th of October with scattered openings for myself as well as the rest of our guide staff throughout the fall season. Give the shop a call if you’d like to join us out on the river. We’d love to have you and it’s a great time of year! (Motel rooms are available as well) 231 745-3529 8am – 6pm

Happy to have these skippers, but “you shoulda’ seen the one that got away…” 🤣😉👊 Thanks buddy, always a pleasure!

I think I may have just gotten myself motivated to get off this couch and go do something now after typing about and remembering those fish I wish I did have pics of so I’m just goanna cut this short but before I do that, I need to really emphasize how much we appreciate your support! It really was, and kinda still is for those interested, a great Salmon season with plenty of fish to play with if you found or knew the right areas.

It’s also been a great fall for sneaking out to ride “my horse” after trips, but I would have traded it for rain on any of those days…

Some more water would have been helpful, and we can still really use it, but our “switchover” is still happening right on schedule, and we are anticipating a great fall season yet to come. I can’t thank our shop, motel and maintenance staff enough either! We’ve got a SOLID group of people taking care of things for us and you’ve kept them pretty busy! 😎 Please stop in and say hi if you get a chance. We look forward to seeing you around the shop or motel as well as sharing the river with you.

It’s time, let’s go! 🎣

Be safe, be well, be nice when you can and most of all, have fun out there!

Steve
