I have been dragging my feet to publish an updated report…Fishing has been decent, but not great.  We experienced both ends of the spectrum since my last report.  Excellent action to a very slow bite at times.  The river is low and clear.  The hatches have stalled out due to the cold weather.  But, the switch is about to be flipped!  We have some excellent weather in the ten day forecast heading our way.

We should start seeing hexes any day?  A couple days to warm the water/muck and we’ll be in business.  We have some great guide dates still available, so give us a call…231-745-3529.  Guides and lodging are available most nights throughout June and early July for the famous hex hatch.

It’s been a complete “grab bag” this week on what got their attention.  Stones, rubber-legged attractors, wet flies, sulphurs, Iso’s and BWO’s were all in the rotation.  The night fishing has been pretty consistent, but cold!  I fired up the wood stove in the barn two nights after fishing this week.  Strange weather, but good for the water temps.

We are at “half-time” of June trout fishing.  I am expecting a STRONG “2nd Half” for sure!  It could be crazy good when the big bugs pop since there has not been much bug activity for the last week.  We are in a good position going into the hex hatch.  I will be out there as much as possible and very excited!  Good luck and see you out there!

Later,

John
