Hey guys,
Gonna have to try and make this one short as I’m on my way out to guide in the winter wonderland once again here shortly. Yep, the snow and cold has officially arrived around here and I, for one, am not disappointed! Traffic is down and the fishing remains pretty solid overall…
Dennis joined me for our annual fall extravaganza on the 9th, 10th & 11th. The 9th was crazy good with more lost than landed, but more than a few good ones to hand and on the 10th we worked hard for just a few that handed it to us in the wood. We got back on track the 11th after losing a handful in the morning, by putting a few to hand in the afternoon. Always a great time with my #1 trained assassin!
While Dennis and I were kicking around so were Kam & friends. These guys tore it up for a few days and had a blast hanging out. Beads and floats mid to lower river did most of the damage. Below here is just a tiny taste of their success…
I took a couple of days off, then on the 14th Kam and I went out to set our deer blind and fish a little. It was a good morning to say the least and we had a blast getting it handed to us and landing a few as well…
Hunted the next two days and unlike last year, it was slow for us! All told we saw the same half rack fork horn several times and one lone perfect doe that I harvested for the brats, loins, steaks and burger. She will eat well, and I am thankful for the healthy organic food that will now grace my family table.
Yesterday was awesome guiding Bill and his son Andrew in what amounted to a snowstorm most of the time out. The morning bite was a bit slow, but when we switched up to casting gear it turned around for us. Had a few fish come right to the boat before turning away, caught something like 4 pike, had a few Steelhead just kick our butts and caught a few as well! Another great annual trip in the books! Thanks guys…
It’s been a minute since my last report and once again, John did a great job of covering most of the bases in his last one. The water is once again low and clear so, approach your fish accordingly! I’ve spent a lot more time watching floats drop on spinning rigs and tossing crank baits than fly fishing recently, but both egg patterns and the usual suspects in the bug spectrum have been producing as well.
Gotta go now! Till next time, be safe, be well and above all, get out there and have some fun!!
