I would like to thank everyone that has been keeping me busy guiding. Unfortunately, this heat wave has caused me to cancel some trips because of the high water temps and stress put on the trout in warmer then normal water. It was a very tough decision, but one I can live with…catch and release does not work real well when the river temps are in the upper 60’s and low 70’s. If you fish, please check the river temp and fish early in the morning (if you are planning on catch and release)…Thank you! PMTU has 2 monitoring stations to view (there are links to these stations on our homepage too).

I officially wrapped up my 2020 hex fishing on the Pere Marquette this week. It was a long stretch of ups and downs, but a great time regardless. Caught some dandies, lost some heartbreakers and made some awesome memories…Thank you!!! Once this heat subsides I will be focusing on terrestrials/attractor and evening mousing guide trips. Full and half day trips are available until September 1. Summer time hoppers, rubber legged twitch bugs and attractors are the main patterns now. Hit the bank, the wood and bubble lines with a twitch every now and again…and watch out! Make sure your leader and tippet match your bug size. Don’t use 5x with a size #8 hopper; use 3x. Too avoid line twist use heavier tippet with larger bugs.
From all of us at BBT, we wish everyone a very safe and happy 4th of July! And a HUGE thank you for the last 24 years of support!!!! This has certainly been a tough year, but we will make it thanks to your loyal support and generosity!!! We still have some excellent trout fishing left to do this summer and fall is creeping up quickly. Give us a call for a summer trout trip or to book your fall salmon trip and/or lodging…231-745-3529. We look forward to hearing from you or seeing you soon!
Take care and be safe!
