Hey guys, just a quick update from me today. John pretty much said it all in his report on the 3rd. New fish continue to enter the system and it looks like we should be good on Kings into the third week of October for anyone interested. Steelhead are being hooked or caught by a few people I know daily and I’ve seen a decent number of them just pushing upriver along with the new kings for this time of year.

I don’t have a full list of my current open dates at the moment, but I do know that the 10th filled in and it opens up quite a bit on or around the 14th with plenty of late season Kings, early season Steelhead and even prime season (November) Steelhead dates open yet as well. Call the shop to check on dates and we have other guides available as well! (1-231-745-3529)

I wound up with a perfectly timed paid day off on Monday and was able to do some recovering from a cold I had/have been fighting, but on Tuesday and Wednesday it was back at it with a regular four boat group trip…

Thursday was spent with my annual husband and wife team of Jeff and Deb. Always a great time with some fantastic people. Hoping to see you both in AK next summer! ;^)

Finished off my week with Mike from Missouri for his second day ever Salmon fishing here on the Pere Marquette. Fun guy to spend time with and a patient angler that caught more fish than you can shake a stick at! Good times buddy, we look forward to seeing you many more times in the future… Not very diligent on the camera with most release immediately, but here’s a couple of many.

Don’t really have much more for you right now. As of yesterday, the water was still in fine shape in both level and clarity, but I’m not sure what last nights storms did to it? Could have colored up some and gone up a little, but I can’t imagine it did too much. Fishing should remain strong for some time yet and I hope you all get or got a chance to come enjoy one of the better runs we’ve seen in quite a while…

Mark your calendar! The PM River Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday October 27th for anyone interested in spending a day doing some great conservation work while enjoying the resource with like minded people. Details to follow… be safe and above all, have fun!

Tight lines All!
Steve

  1. Thanks Ben.

We will be posting details on the cleanup very soon Bob and Dawn, but in short we meet at the shop in the morning, try to spread people out as best we can at various walk in points for those without boats and different sections for those with. We then hold an appreciation party in the evening afterward, usually at my pole barn between the shop and motel. We provide the car spots for free, garbage bags and the food for the party…
