THE REPORT

Well folks, I’m off… By this time tomorrow morning I’ll be sitting in a plane on my way north for the next seven weeks. With any luck I’ll find the time to update you once in a while, but either way, my best wishes for all of you this summer, hope it’s a great one!

For anyone wishing to join us up there for a week or two we do still have a number of great openings during our BBT hosted weeks of July 28 to August 4 and August 4 to August 11. It’s a fantastic trip at an awesome price so I hope a few of you will take advantage and we’ll be wetting a line together before my return here on August 12!

Haven’t been out all that much since last report with family guest and all, but it’s been fun when I have. I had a great time visiting with the family and celebrating two birthdays during the week. We did a family fun run a couple of mornings on a four mile loop, went swimming out at Bowman’s lake, took a bunch of rafts and kayaks down the river that my good friend Craig from Ivan’s arranged for us, had an awesome catered dinner from Steve at Barski’s for the b-days and were blessed with great weather the entire time.

The “fun bus” picked us up for our river float.

A cool shot my niece took with an 8 second exposure and sparklers!

After most of my family left on Saturday morning I did a half day trip with the father and 9 year old son team of Scott and Jack. Unfortunately, it was a pretty quiet evening with only a few dinks rising pre hex on the way down and when the time came, not only did the bugs never really pop for us, but we also got to ride out in a thunderstorm that Jack won’t soon forget! Rained out, but very exciting none the less… Thanks guys!

Sunday found me on the river with Carl for his third year hexing with BBT. He and I had an absolutely awesome day and night 2 years ago, he struck it just right with Jory while I was in Alaska last year and this year, we got lucky and were able to score on one nice fish that sipped for us and a few smaller ones on the way down. Very few bugs and rising/coloring water wasn’t ideal, but good times regardless!

Not the 20+ we were shooting for, but a solid fish and lucky to get it!

John, Johnny and I all had Monday blocked off to float together before I leave and we had a blast. Didn’t leave until almost 5pm and ran 37 all the way to Bowman’s. I can’t say we really fished all that much or hard, but we left with a full cooler, came back with an empty and even had my wife make a delivery part of the way down! (Needed a bottle of red wine and some cheese to go with the great salmon spread and crackers that Johnny had brought! ;^) Pretty sure we solved most of the worlds if not Baldwin’s problems along the way and got caught in another pretty good storm to make it even more interesting…

Good times guys, see you on the 28th of July John and you in August Johnny! Keep it real (Or, reel) on the home front!

Still got some serious packing to do yet today so I’m going to cut this short…

Tight lines all,
Steve
